Jul 27, 2020· Minergy, the coal mining and trading company with the Masama coal mine located in the Mmamabula Coalfield of Botswana, has exported Botswana''s first coal by rail to South Africa on 17 July 2020. The coal, mined at the Masama coal mine, was loaded onto trucks and transported 60km to the rail siding at Tshele Hills.
It started construction on the project after receiving mining license from the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security, Botswana, in August 2018. The Masama coal mine is expected to produce of coal a year, starting from 2019. The estimated life of the mine is 100 years.
